The Position
A warm, hands-on family in Fairfield is seeking a nurturing, proactive, and experienced Nanny / Family Assistant to join their household long-term. They have a 3-year-old son and are expecting their second child in September.
For the first 3–4 months, Mom will primarily care for the newborn, allowing the nanny to focus on the toddler. Newborn support will initially be limited to bottles, baby laundry, and occasional brief care while Mom tends to something nearby. After approximately 3–4 months, the role will gradually transition to include more hands-on infant care as Mom prepares to return to work.
Both parents work full-time, are collaborative and involved, and hope to find someone who genuinely wants to become a trusted, long-term part of their household.

The 3-year-old is potty trained and attends preschool three mornings per week from 9:00 AM–12:15 PM. Responsibilities include:
Preparing breakfast, getting him dressed, and packing lunch
Preschool drop-off and pickup using the family-provided vehicle
Preparing and serving meals and snacks
Supporting his approximately 1.5-hour afternoon nap
Planning engaging activities and outings on non-school days
Trips to nearby playgrounds, parks, activities, and the beach
Keeping children's spaces organized and resetting after activities
Gradually transitioning into supporting both children's routines
The family generally prepares dinner, so evening meal responsibilities will primarily involve reheating and serving the toddler's food. Someone who enjoys cooking is a plus.

Family Assistant Responsibilities
The family values someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative during downtime. Light household support includes:
Children's and baby laundry — washing, folding, and putting away
Washing bottles
Unloading the dishwasher and tidying the kitchen
Keeping children's spaces organized
Helping with the family's two dogs throughout the day, including letting them outside into the yard as needed and serving their lunch in their bowls
The family has two friendly, child-friendly dogs — one larger dog and one elderly small dog — who are a big part of the family. Their care is simple, but it is important that their Nanny / Family Assistant genuinely enjoys dogs and is comfortable incorporating their needs into the daily household routine.
Parenting Philosophy
The family believes in nurturing and teaching rather than punishing. Their son responds well to conversation and explanation, and they value a caregiver who gets down to his level, calmly explains boundaries, redirects when needed, and reinforces positive behavior through tools such as sticker charts and positive motivation.
As the baby grows, the nanny should also be open to following the family's approach to sleep routines and sleep training.
-
The ideal candidate is:
Experienced with both toddlers and infants
CPR certified
Warm, nurturing, patient, proactive, and engaging
Strong common sense and good judgment
Comfortable driving and caring for two children as the role evolves
Genuinely enjoys dogs and is comfortable assisting with their simple daily routine
Collaborative with involved parents
Seeking a long-term position with a family
-
Compensation: $28- $30/hour
Paid Vacation: 10 paid vacation days
Paid Sick Leave: 4 days
Paid major holidays
Year end bonus
Annual raises
This is an excellent opportunity for a nanny who wants to develop a strong relationship with the family's toddler, gradually transition into caring for the new baby, and become a trusted long-term part of a warm and collaborative household.
