FOR FAMILIES

THE RIGHT HIRE
starts with understanding your home.

Every household has its own rhythm.

Some environments are highly structured. Others are fluid.

Some families want their household professionals to work with significant autonomy. Others prefer frequent communication and collaboration.

The important thing is understanding the environment before introducing someone into it.

That's why every Heirloom search begins with conversation.

OUR process

  • 01 — DISCOVER

We begin with a thoughtful conversation to understand your household, priorities, schedule, and the kind of person who will feel right in your home. Beyond experience and qualifications, we consider personality, working style, and the details that make a placement truly work.

  • 02 — CURATE

Every candidate is personally interviewed and screened by Heirloom before being introduced. We present a carefully selected shortlist accompanied by each candidate’s résumé and our own introduction, giving you context beyond what can be captured on paper.

  • 03 — INTERVIEW

When you’re ready to meet a candidate, we coordinate the interview process from start to finish, beginning with a FaceTime conversation between your family and the candidate. We remain closely involved throughout, gathering feedback and helping both sides determine whether there is a strong mutual fit.

  • 04 — VET & TRIAL

Once there is mutual interest, Heirloom conducts professional reference checks and a comprehensive background check. Following successful vetting, we strongly recommend an in-person trial so both the family and candidate can experience what working together will actually feel like before making a long-term commitment.

  • 05 — PLACE & SUPPORT

Once an offer is extended and accepted, we help guide the transition into employment, including assistance with the employment agreement and access to trusted household payroll resources. Our relationship doesn’t end with the placement—we continue to check in with both families and candidates to ensure everyone feels supported and the placement is thriving.

Request a private conversation

Over time, we’ve learned that what feels obvious to one household can be entirely out of bounds for another. For that reason, we begin every search by setting aside assumptions and approaching each family with a genuinely open mind. Our first priority is not to define a role, but to understand how a household communicates, makes decisions, and understands itself.

We take time to learn how principals think, what they value, and what kind of home they are intentionally—or unintentionally—creating. Rather than relying on surface preferences, we ask broader, foundational questions about expectations, boundaries, and long-term vision. This clarity allows us to interpret what is being asked for, as well as what may be needed but not yet articulated.

Only once that understanding is established do we move into a search. By moving deliberately at the outset, we create a process that feels considered rather than reactive, and placements that begin with confidence rather than correction.
